Do I Add Water Or Essential Oil First In My Diffuser?

All of our Ultrasonic Diffusers are designed to first be filled with water and then Essential Oils.

As we know, water and oil do not mix. But, since the "mist" is created through ultrasonic vibrations, the water is broken down into micro-particals which allows the Essential Oil to attach to it and be transmitted into the air. Adding oil before water can cause the oil to stay in the bottom of the water tank and hinder the performance of the ceramic disc of creating ultrasonic vibrations that are responsible for producing mist.

If you would like to learn more about diffusers that do not require water, check out our info on Nebulizing and Fan Diffusers.

To extend the life of your diffuser, please be certain to use only 100% Pure Essential Oils. by doing so, it will ensure your unit qualifies for any future warranty claims. any use of Fragrance Oils will void our warranty due to synthetic ingredients used. We've included a few directions below, to help with the maintenance of your diffuser.

1.) CLEANING METHOD

To clean, pour enough distilled white vinegar inside the empty water tank to cover the base of the tank. Let soak overnight. Rinse with warm water (being sure to avoid getting water into the air vent opening at the top of the tank). Take something soft such as a cotton swab or cotton ball and gently wipe up around the ceramic diffusing disc at the bottom of the tank. Refill with water, making sure the level is noticeably below the max fill.

2.) AIR DRYING METHOD

When adding water, be sure to avoid any water getting into the air vent opening at the top of the water tank. That opening leads directly to the electronics, the unit will not function correctly if they get wet. To be on the safe side, try air drying your unit by removing the top, flipping the base upside-down and letting air dry for at least 48hrs. When you go use again, be mindful of that air vent opening and make sure the water level is noticeably below the max fill indicator.
