In a fast changing world, Meditation is a powerful centering tool that can help you reduce stress, increase focus, and improve your overall well-being. Using essential oils is a great, easy method to enhance the effects of meditation. In this blog, we'll explore how you can do this yourself and create that spa-like feeling at home.

Firstly, let’s pick the right essential for you. Although you can use any oil of your choosing, we’ve listed a few of our recommendations below.

Lavender - Calming, relaxing,

Peppermint - Promotes mental clarity.

Lemon - Uplifting

Eucalyptus – Eases tension

Place a couple of drops of essential oil into your diffuser and place it in an area where you won’t accidentally knock it over. As a tip, using an essential oil with lights can be an extra way of setting the mood.

  1.  Find a quiet place where you can sit or lie down in a comfortable position.
  2. Close your eyes and relax your body, beginning with your toes and working your way up to the top of your head.
  3. Take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Focus on the sensation of your breath moving in and out of your body.
  4. Focus on your breathing even further. Focus on the sensation of your breath moving in and out of your body.
  5. When you feel your mind start to wonder, gently redirect your breathing. Don’t get frustrated or angry if you can’t seem to focus. Simply notice the distraction and redirect your attention back to rhythm of inhale and exhale of your breath. The more you meditate the easier this will become.
  6. Continue to focus on your focal point for as long as you'd like. Even just a few minutes of meditation can be beneficial.
  7. When you're ready to end your meditation, take a few deep breaths and slowly open your eyes.

Meditation can be difficult at first, especially when you may have a lot of things on you mind. But through regular sessions, perhaps a few days a week before you sleep, you can really improve your mental health and as a result simply feel better.
